STEP I - Download SOSNews Desktop Reader on your computer

To install SOSNews Desktop Reader, simply click
the link below -
Download SOSNews Desktop Reader
Click
Run. (If you wish to save a copy of the program to install
at a later date, you can also click
Save to save the .exe file to your computer's hard
drive; then, to install the program, simply double-click the icon for
the .exe file you saved.)

When the
installation process begins, another window will appear, prompting you
to register your copy of SOSNews Desktop Reader. Type your first name,
last name, and e-mail address in the fields, then click
Continue to complete the
registration process.

The program
will finish installing automatically, and a new icon for SOSNews Desktop
Reader will appear in the taskbar tray at the lower left-hand side of
your computer screen.
STEP II -
Sign up to receive latest information

After
installation is complete, SOSNews Desktop Reader will connect to the
Internet to check for messages. It will download welcome message and
the new messages that
we have saved on our web server.

When the SOSNews
Desktop Reader detects a new message, a pop-up window will appear to
notify you that a message is available.

Clicking this
window will open the message in a new window and will open SOSNews Desktop
Reader inbox as well. SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox functions like an
e-mail inbox, displaying the notification time and subject line of
each message in boldface
that is available.

To open SOSNews
Desktop Reader at any time, double-click the custom icon for SOSNews
Desktop Reader in your computer's taskbar tray, located at the lower
right-hand corner of your screen.

The SOSNews Desktop
Reader inbox will also open if you click the pop-up notification that
appears when a new message is available -- clicking the pop-up
notification will open both the inbox and the new message.

Messages that
have not been read yet are displayed in
boldface in SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox. To read a message,
double-click the subject line; the message will open in a separate
browser window.

If a new
message arrives while the Desktop Reader inbox is closed, a pop-up
notification will appear in the lower right-hand corner of your
computer screen; clicking this notification will open the message in a
new window.

To check for
new messages at any time, right-click SOSNews Desktop Reader taskbar icon,
then click Check for new messages.

To check for
new messages while SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox is open, you can also
click the
Options menu, then click
Check for new messages.

In SOSNews Desktop
Reader inbox, you can mark messages as "read" or "unread," or you can
delete them from the inbox.
Stop and
Uninstall SOSNews Desktop Reader
SOSNews Desktop
Reader is designed to be as user-friendly as possible and to run "behind
the scenes" without interfering with other programs or tasks. After you
install it, the program will start automatically and continue running in
the background to ensure that you receive regular, timely notifications
about new messages as they become available.
When SOSNews
Desktop Reader inbox is closed, the only sign that the program is
running is the small taskbar tray icon on the lower right-hand side of
your computer screen.
To exit SOSNews
Desktop Reader software, right-click the taskbar tray icon and click
Exit. This will close the
software, and you will not receive any new message notifications again
until you start the program again.
To restart SOSNews
Desktop Reader, click the Start
menu on your computer desktop, then click
All Programs, then find
SOSNews icon and click it. The program will also restart
automatically each time you turn on your computer.
To permanently
remove SOSNews Desktop Reader software from your computer:

Click the
Start menu on your
computer desktop.

Click
Control Panel.
-
Click
Add and Remove Programs.
-
Locate SOSNews and click
Uninstall.
