Get all latest information on your desktop as soon as it is released

The new technology provides an alternative solution to the increasing difficulty of distributing information by e-mails.

As more e-mail messages get blocked, filtered, and lost in overflowing inboxes full of spam, we have been looking for a secure alternative method to deliver SOS Newsletters directly to you.

You are among the FIRST people to join this brand-new service that uses a special technology.

So you are now guaranteed to get a FIRST LOOK at information through newsletters -- all delivered straight to your desktop, in a super reader-friendly format.

Please follow following easy steps to start -

STEP I - Download SOSNews Desktop Reader on your computer

  1. To install SOSNews Desktop Reader, simply click the link below -

    Download SOSNews Desktop Reader

Click Run. (If you wish to save a copy of the program to install at a later date, you can also click Save to save the .exe file to your computer's hard drive; then, to install the program, simply double-click the icon for the .exe file you saved.)

  2. When the installation process begins, another window will appear, prompting you to register your copy of SOSNews Desktop Reader. Type your first name, last name, and e-mail address in the fields, then click Continue to complete the registration process.

  3. The program will finish installing automatically, and a new icon for SOSNews Desktop Reader will appear in the taskbar tray at the lower left-hand side of your computer screen.

STEP II - Sign up to receive latest information

  1. After installation is complete, SOSNews Desktop Reader will connect to the Internet to check for messages. It will download welcome message and the new messages that we have saved on our web server.

  2. When the SOSNews Desktop Reader detects a new message, a pop-up window will appear to notify you that a message is available.

  3. Clicking this window will open the message in a new window and will open SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox as well. SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox functions like an e-mail inbox, displaying the notification time and subject line of each message in boldface that is available.

  4. To open SOSNews Desktop Reader at any time, double-click the custom icon for SOSNews Desktop Reader in your computer's taskbar tray, located at the lower right-hand corner of your screen.

  5. The SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox will also open if you click the pop-up notification that appears when a new message is available -- clicking the pop-up notification will open both the inbox and the new message.

  6. Messages that have not been read yet are displayed in boldface in SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox. To read a message, double-click the subject line; the message will open in a separate browser window.

  7. If a new message arrives while the Desktop Reader inbox is closed, a pop-up notification will appear in the lower right-hand corner of your computer screen; clicking this notification will open the message in a new window.

  8. To check for new messages at any time, right-click SOSNews Desktop Reader taskbar icon, then click Check for new messages.

  9. To check for new messages while SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox is open, you can also click the Options menu, then click Check for new messages.

  10. In SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox, you can mark messages as "read" or "unread," or you can delete them from the inbox.

Stop and Uninstall SOSNews Desktop Reader

SOSNews Desktop Reader is designed to be as user-friendly as possible and to run "behind the scenes" without interfering with other programs or tasks. After you install it, the program will start automatically and continue running in the background to ensure that you receive regular, timely notifications about new messages as they become available.

When SOSNews Desktop Reader inbox is closed, the only sign that the program is running is the small taskbar tray icon on the lower right-hand side of your computer screen.

To exit SOSNews Desktop Reader software, right-click the taskbar tray icon and click Exit. This will close the software, and you will not receive any new message notifications again until you start the program again.

To restart SOSNews Desktop Reader, click the Start menu on your computer desktop, then click All Programs, then find SOSNews icon and click it. The program will also restart automatically each time you turn on your computer.

To permanently remove SOSNews Desktop Reader software from your computer:

  1. Click the Start menu on your computer desktop.

  2. Click Control Panel.

  3. Click Add and Remove Programs.

  4. Locate SOSNews and click Uninstall.
